You will love me after this session of tweaking.

We will begin by decompressing your pak files.
Go to doom 3/base and decompress all the pk4 files using winrar

Then you will need to open doomconfig in your doom 3/base dir

This is the fun part!!! Copy and paste baby!!! This will make it pretty and fast!!!

After that you need to get the newest drivers you possibly can!

For Nvidia cards go to http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=847

For Ati cards go to http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=849
(Sorry, I'm not a big fan of radeon don't have any tweaks for you)

To optimize your Nvidia card get this file and install it also:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815

Now you can get into a lot more settings in the Nvidia menu
Right-click on the desktop and click Nvidia display then click your monitor

Performance and Quality settings:High performance, off and off

Direct3d performance tweaks: mipmap detail level should be on best performance
with your video ram equal to what you have. Fog table emulation on.

Additional D3d settings: render ahead 2 frames for load on graphics card
render ahead 3 for a little more cpu load.

OpenGL settings: Enable texture clamp, Vertical sync off

You can now overclock your card with Coolbits 2.0 Look up tweaks on your card and
OC if you want but I'm going to tell you that doom 3 is one hell of a load and your card
might fry so do this at your own risk!!!

Tips: Overclock slowly in 3-5 Mhz increments. If you see white dots or weird tears on your
screen immediately turn off your computer and at startup hold ctrl then change your settings lower like say you ran 350 Mhz on your core and you get the tears drop it 10-15 Mhz. and gradually bring it up and test it with a benchmark like 3dmark2001. Make sure it's stable because if you bring it to high it miscalculates and you get weird errors. Just be as cautious because a graphics card is expensive!!!
